Before:

This antique bed was handcrafted and dates from before the second world war and definitely needed some painting. Besides the white painting, we stained a part. I say, a fresh modern twist!

This lamp foot was for sale on the internet for hardly anything. Brown lacquer and a white shade does wonders! Pure luxury (and cheap as chips)!

Our paintings are so unique! The customs must have thought so as well, for they gazed at the paintings longer than expected. This resulted in a two days delay, so they came to late for the fair in Yokohama, Japan. So unfortunately we couldn’t introduce Luchtig to Japan… for now.

UPDATE: Our dear friends in Yokohama unexpectedly managed to sell 8 out of the 13 paintings! Succes after all!

A fourteen angels-poem

This week, out of the blue, we received an urgent job. No problem! Lisanne’s collegue wanted this (Dutch) poem on a painting to give it as a present to her godchild. This poem means a lot to her, but she wanted a contemporary version of the picture. So we went to work and made a fitting design that matches our style and includes her poem. See below for the mind blowing result!

At night when I go to sleep
Fourteen angels will follow me:
Two at the head,
Two at the feet,
Two on my right side,
Two on my left side,
Two who’ll tuck me in,
Two who’ll stretch me,
Two who’ll lead me
To Heavens Paradise!

13 Of our LD paintings were sent by Priority Airmail to Yokohama, Japan. They will be introduced to the Japanese public at a fair on the 22^nd of November. We hope for the best!

After 4 years of studying, Daan received a bachelor degree of Fine Arts in Education! Two of his works are displayed at an exposition in Maastricht, Holland. For those who have missed it…

(Short) description: ‘Message in a bottle’

The bottle-shaped urn is made by pouring chruch candle grease mixed with human ashes and a farewell letter into a casting mold. The urn contains nothing but biodegradable materials and will eventually dissolve in water or earth in 4 to 5 years.

(Short) description: ‘Tumor’

I’m a victim of the mass consumer society. I want more, more, more! The hanging ceramic tumor represents my greediness. The colors remind us of porcelain, a luxury product that, back in the days of the Dutch Golden Age (17^th century), was imported from China by Dutch sailors. A deadly expedition just to please the eye. A perfect example of what greediness brings us and takes away from us.

We bought this piano stool second hand and it really needed a makeover. There were cuts in the seating and the leather was damaged on several places. Fortunately we came across some jute peanut- and coffee been bags. 1 + 1 = 1!

Meet the bunny we made our selves! Just like our doggy we made her out of a pair of gloves. The collar is made from the nice edge of the glove and this is also shown in the cute little pocket on the hip (styling detail).

A coronet of buttons! I love buttons and wanted to do something special with them. I had to loot my mother's and grandmother's button jar, you girls are the sweetest! On a bright day the buttons twinkel in the sunlight. It's when the ring becomes a real eye-catcher!

Besides making our own products we are always searching for original interior ideas created by others. Here's one which is as functional as well creative! Last year we refurbished our dining area. To prevent the legs of the chairs from scratching the floor we put baby socks on them. The chairs are looking adorable! (If we may say so ourselves)

Like the ‘Cup 'n' Candle’ you’ve seen before we like to work with table ware and give it a playfull twist. As you can see we made an etagère with tableware bought second hand or new in local shops in Maastricht, Holland. That’s why we can make these etageres in all kind of shapes, sizes and colors. Lovely for ‘high tea’ or for decorating the table for any holiday.
